Mrs. Riendeau’s class brought ancient history to life today! ✍️ Students wrapped up their Ancient Mesopotamia study by creating their own names in ancient cuneiform writing on clay tablets. What a fun, hands-on way to finish their learning! 💙💛

Each year the Tennessee Department of Education examines schools’ performance across several different indicators to provide an overall look at how schools are serving the needs of all students. The department of education included the following indicators in its analysis of school accountability:
Student achievement
Student growth
English learner proficiency exam (ELPA)
Chronic absenteeism
More information on each of these indicators and the data used to define them can be found in the 2025-2026 Federal Accountability Protocol. Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the department is required to use the school accountability results to identify those schools with the lowest performance across student groups (e.g., individual racial/ethnic student groups, students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged, and English learners). These schools will receive additional support from the department.
We are writing to inform you that Church Hill Middle School is identified for ATSI/TSI as required by ESSA and the U.S. Department of Education during the 2026-27 school year. This federal designation will be retained until the school exits or a new designation list is released.
Our school is working hard with the district and the Tennessee Department of Education to increase student performance by hiring educational coaches to work with our faculty, as well as embracing learning strategies through the Yes, We Can! book study and conference, which promotes academic achievement for all students. We encourage you to help by participating in the development and implementation of our school improvement plan and/or continuing to help your child monitor his/her grades through the Skyward App; keep open lines of communication with your child’s teacher through email or the Hawkins County App; and make sure to attend all family engagement nights.

We are uniting swimmers across the entire county—from Bulls Gap to Church Hill—and we want you on our team! If your child is in 5th through 12th grade and loves to swim (or wants to get competitive), this is their chance to represent Hawkins County.

Congrats to the varsity volleyball team on their win at the Volley on the Ridge Tournament at West Ridge High School today!
Yesterday’s rain left Ms. Ketron completely drenched during afternoon car pickup! One of our kind parents even shared an umbrella with her but as you can see, it didn’t help much! She kept smiling tho! Ha!
A big thank you to the Surgoinsville Fire Department and Church Hill Rescue Squad for visiting our CTE classes!
Our students enjoyed learning more about careers in emergency services and the important work these first responders do in our community. We appreciate you sharing your time and knowledge with our students!
